Meet the Team: Ally

Ally Blair serves as Humble Oak’s Marketing and Social Media Intern. A senior at Summit Public High School in the Bay area, California, Ally has worked with Humble Oak for over a year. Ally found out about the available internship position through her school’s “expeditions” program, a series of eight-week intensive internships for students.

Over the course of her internship, Ally has deepened her understanding of DEI work through researching for blog posts and developing other website content. She views DEI as a way to connect people across identities and push our country forward towards a point where everyone is truly valued equally.

The Marketing and Social Media Internship has not only helped Ally learn more about the field of DEI, but it has also allowed her to strengthen skills that she’ll use in her future work experiences. She has developed her time management skills and grown used to working with set deadlines. Ally has also fine-tuned her Squarespace skills and collaborated on a marketing plan. This internship has been a great chance to do the behind-the-scenes work for a cause she cares about.

Ally values the professional experiences she’s had at Humble Oak, like taking part in business development meetings and networking calls. This internship has given her an opportunity to work in a hybrid workplace and a foot-in experience for the broad world of marketing.

This fall, Ally will attend San Diego State University to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. She hopes to eventually work in marketing for a large company in the Bay area. Interning at Humble Oak has helped Ally confirm her interest in marketing and develop the skills needed to set her on the path towards that career.

Ally’s advice for future Humble Oak interns is to never hesitate to ask questions or ask for help – an internship is a learning process and it’s okay not to know everything. At the same time, future interns shouldn’t be afraid to take on new tasks and challenges.
